VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION

“The Hope Center Invests In Your Future with Vocational Rehabilitation”

Often, the most difficult part of the recovery process is adjusting to the responsibilities and requirements of life after an in-patient rehabilitation stay, while also managing the consequences of addiction. The Hope Center has a staff dedicated to helping clients successfully maneuver back into the real world while maintaininga balanced life of recovery, by assisting them in building back a foundation and future through offering a comprehensive Vocational Rehabilitation curriculum.

After an initial meeting to pinpoint the client’s background, education and employment history, the vocational counselor assists the client with developing a plan to incorporate education and/or career goals into their transition from a residential environment to an independent atmosphere.

For those looking to begin a new career, the counselor works with each client on an individual basis, assisting with the creation of a proper résumé. A selection of potential referrals are then outlined, followed by an overview of interview questions and techniques. The counselor pinpoints unique skill sets and interests of the client. The counselor also assists in reinforcing the importance of presentation, including choice of vocabulary, appearance, attitude and preparedness.

For those who wish to pursue a furthered education, like acquiring a GED, associate or bachelors degree, or technical certification, our counselors create a specifically tailored roadmap for the client that offers a realistic timeline and financial plan to achieve their educational goals. The client is presented with Federal financial aid forms, scholarship opportunities and grant applications as part of the process, completed together with the counselor to ensure accuracy and thoroughness.

For clients who already have a work history, we have a strong local network of professionals who can help our clients receive job placement so they can begin working during their long-term recovery process. It is recommended that a client stay 6-9 months under the care of a rehabilitation facility, or living in a sober environment for the best chance at achieving long-term recovery. With the help of local job placement services, we can, even temporarily, help our clients build a strong foundation for when they are ready to return home full-time.

At The Hope Center, we understand that addiction has stripped many of our clients of the luxuries of modern transportation, or in other circumstances, has left some without their vehicles having moved away from their home state. Lack of transportation is one of the most significant factors that inhibits career growth after rehab. To help our clients re-acclimate in the community, and offer them reliable transportation, we introduce them to the bus and train schedules, and avail tickets at a reduced rate. Clients are also offered the option to obtain a free bicycle in exchange for a few community service hours with one of our local community partners.

The goal of this program is to empower clients to pursue a thoughtful, comprehensive growth plan for sustained employment, offering financial and emotional stability. This can be a daunting, insurmountable goal on one’s own following treatment, so the relationship between client and counselor weeks and months after treatment is critical as it offers the support needed to sustain the effort. They meet in person or via electronic communication to reflect on progress and discuss challenges that arise so the client can stay motivated and encouraged until they have achieved long-term success on their own.

The Hope Center encourages a future of social interdependence. The goal of treatment at The Hope Center is to provide patients with a road map to recovery: engaging patients in identifying the core issues that are holding them back from being successful in life and create a healthy path toward achieving the goals they have outlined during their treatment. While treating our clients for their addictions is our foundational purpose, we believe at the Hope Center that the next steps after treatment, the rebuilding of each client’s personal life, relationships and career, is equally as important as it affords them the useful tools and optimism required to achieve sustained sobriety.
